Saving a Legacy

CRE partner organization and home to Outreach Through The Arts, the Santa Monica Music Center, was recently destroyed. We hope that you will help us rebuild our music program for Santa Monica students! All donations received will go 100% to Outreach Through The Arts to support scholarships for students.

For 50 years this family-owned business has been serving the community and the Santa Monica-Malibu school district diligently. During the protests in Santa Monica on May 31, 2020, our partner organization, The Santa Monica Music Center, was vandalized and looted. The Music Center is where our Outreach Through The Arts (OTTA) students receive their free after school music lessons. They also receive free instruments, sheet music, and tickets to concerts from the Music Center.

While store owner and OTTA program director, Lana Fernandez Negrete, had the foresight to take many of the instruments to a secured location in the early afternoon, everything that remained in the repair room was stolen, including at least a dozen cellos and violins, flutes, trumpets, plus some brand-new instruments like a euphonium and two keyboards that had just arrived. All operational equipment, computers, printers, transaction equipment was either stolen or destroyed.

Please support Outreach Through The Arts and help us save a legacy of music education!
